Tradition and Luxury in Switzerland’s Famed Resort
St.
Moritz has been one of the most famous of luxury holiday resorts of the
world since 1864. So recognized as a winter playground for the rich and

horse and greyhound races on the ice covered lake, and in summer, polo
and golf, mountain biking, inline skating, hiking, wind surfing, tennis
and sailing.

the world, along with five star prices in season. One notch below, but
equivalent in style and comfort in this premier world resort, the four
star Hotel Steffani offers local tradition along with its subtle elegance
and can save you a few Swiss Francs for a stay in the tony St Moritz.
The Hotel Steffani, family run by Brigitte and Peter Merky, located right
in the center of the old village on the southern facing slope of the
Engadine Mountain. Rooms at the Steffani have recently been refurbished
and updated, utilizing natural woods and stone. Each room can be a little
different than others
depending on the floor and location. The hotel common lounges are decorated
with antiques and several rooms have spacious balconies or terraces
with views of the snow-capped mountains and the St. Moritz village
hugging
the shores of lake San Murrezzan. Wired internet is free in all rooms
and free wireless throughout. The hotel spa facilities offer indoor
pool, Whirlpool, sauna, solarium and massages in winter.
The Hotel Steffami
offers a variety of dining choices. The fine dining "Lapin
Bleu" restaurant at the Steffani is the oldest in St. Moritz where
you’ll find a feeling of Swiss Alpine tradition. The Stüva
Grill offers casual dining with beef, lamb and traditional Engadine
specialties, salad bar and a la carte menu for hotel guests. The Le
Mandarin is the
only Chinese restaurant in St Moritz, serving traditional Cantonese
cuisine dishes created by Chef Lu. The hotel hassome of the the most
popular
bars in St. Moritz as well. The Cava Bar where the young skiers and
boarders gather in the cellar. The Stuebli Bar cozy in winter, and
the Cresta
Bar above is a favorite town spot for locals and out-of-towners starting
late in the afternoon until the wee hours.
The
Steffani Hotel is open all year long, when many of the other hotels close
during the off-season when St. Moritz can be a rather sleepy
place after the winter sports fans have gone and before the summer's
bikers
and hikers arrive. In the sunny summer, there are 5 golf courses near
St. Moritz with spectacular views and daily tournaments from mid-June
to October. August brings the Art and Symphony music and Fine Arts
Festival. The summits of the Bernina Massif, the mountain range which
separates
the Upper Engadine of Switzerland from the Italian Alps is a short
train ride away on the Rhaetian Rail Line. The Steffani Hotel can be
