BARGAIN LUXURY TRAVEL - IRELAND MONART -
SPA HOTEL – ENNISCORTHY
IRELAND Monart, a simple name, clean and elegant - perfect for a single minded luxury spa hotel experience. When I presented my entry card at the airport with Monart filled out as my address while staying in Ireland, the officer looked at me and nodded as if wishing he too could escape his cage of daily stress, perhaps envying the treat which lie ahead for me, an escape which frankly he probably wished he could afford. Monart, a modern purpose built luxury spa hotel property on the grounds of an 18th Century estate in Wexford County, Ireland, about an hour south of Dublin has been recently named by Conde Nast Traveler as the number two spa destination in the world, and one can easily see why. With a motto of “rest, relax and transform” Monart is all about the spa and getaway from the stresses of the everyday. An adults only environment where resident guests are encouraged to wander freely about in the plush provided and monogrammed robes, from spa to restaurant to garden, whih no need to return to the trappings of the workady world for your entire time there, if you so please. The experience at Monart is all about the escape from the demands of the modern day struggle. Turn off the cell phone, ignore the urgent messages from work, or junior’s latest drama. For a one-of-a-kind couples romantic retreat or a rewind, refresh and rejuvenate weekend or week. Arriving at Monart, through the gates into the wooded grounds you are presented with single stone manor of Monart House, built in 1740 by Nathanial Cookman, a financier to George I, the first of the English kings from the house of Hanover. Passing through the old house from two centuries past, you enter the distinctive contemporary elegance of the modern hotel though a glass enclosed walk. Privacy, peace and exclusivity are the mantra to breathe and absorb the surrounding natural woodland air. Every room has a terrace looking out on the woods of the natural garden of water ponds and stone bridges. Monart has three restaurants, the fine dining main room of crystal chandeliers with a menu which includes the best one can expect, a garden lounge and bar with the vantage of the garden ponds outdoors or relaxing bistro style indoors, and even the spa has a café so one may never have to leave the conceptual heart of the experience. The restaurant menus and even the bar offer special detox offerings to compliment the spa treatments - or just enjoy the seasonal menu of gourmet quality. Afternoon tea can be taken in the historic old rooms on the manor house for a romantic curl up by the fire in old world atmosphere, or in the garden surrounded by ducks on the pond. The Spa at Monart is a wonderland of treatment rooms and relaxation. A wide range of professional spa treatments by are offered, massage, facials, body wraps of exotic variety from green coffee to mango yogurt, mud baths of imported Canadian moor mud, aromatic oils and dry flotation, up to full week-long detox courses.
