GERMANY'S
MICHELIN 3-STAR RESTAURANTS
Gourmet Style with Regional Flavors
Germany sparkles
as one of European continent’s brightest culinary
highlights, the nine restaurants of 3-Michelin stars make it the second
most awarded country in Europe. The regions top chefs impress with sophisticated
and innovative dining experiences and menus reflecting the culinary influences
and ingredients of the regions from Wolfsburg in the north to the village
Baiersbronn in the southwestern Black Forest. Chef
Sven Elverfeld at his Restaurant Aqua located within the Ritz
Carlton Hotel in Wolfsburg
at the Volkswagen Autostadt factory delivery center
(see Autostadt
Wolfsburg) is the most recent addition to Germany’s
Michelin landscape. The restaurant Elverfeld creates modern European
cuisine with a local twist featuring seafood like flounder, a staple
of Northern German cooking. Reviews Ritz-Carlton

Just south of Frankfurt
in the town of Langen, the Restaurant Amador offers an unexpected culinary
adventure. Chef Juan Amador focuses on
reinventing classical Basque and Catalan cuisine in the heart of central
Germany by using local products, creating a unique blend of two worlds.
His twist on regional classics from Frankfurt, like the famous "Gruene
Sosse," an herb-cream sauce most often served on potatoes does not
shy away from his special challenge. Restaurant

Classic elegance
and culinary style make the country town of Bergisch-Gladbach between
Cologne and
Düsseldorf a center of remarkable cooking. The
two castle-hotels, Bensberg and Lerbach, both feature not only exceptional
comfort, but also 3-Michelin star cuisine. Restaurant Vendome in the
gorgeous Schloss Hotel Bensberg, run by chef Joachim Wissler
focuses on New German Cuisine,
showcasing the lighter side of German cooking.
In the castle hotel Lerbach, chef Nils Henkel took over the gourmet restaurant
from his mentor Dieter Mueller and kept the 3-Michelin-Star restaurant
at its best. Henkel uses only local ingredients, such as farm raised
meats or herbs from the schloss garden, putting an emphasis on seasonal
menus. SchlossHotel

In the wine region
along the winding scenic Mosel River, the Waldhotel Sonnora is the
perfect luxury
getaway. Just 30 minutes from Germany’s
oldest city Trier, the family-run hotel is embedded in fairy-tale like
leafy woods of the Germany side of the Ardennes. Chef Helmut Thieltges
presents classical French cuisine at its best and the extensive wine
cellar features among others the best local wines of the region. Read

In one of Germany’s smallest states, just on the border with France,
the Gaestehaus Erfort in Saarbrücken has attained international
acclaim and 3 Michelin Stars. Chef Klaus Erfort focuses on the authenticity
of his local ingredients. www.relaischateaux.com Just half an hour to
the north, another culinary gem is Victor’s Gourmet Restaurant
of Christina Bau who offers international cuisine in the castle hotel

The
Black Forest village of Baiersbronn in the southwest of Germany's Baden-Wurttemberg
is a real treat for epicureans, featuring a pair, count them, two
3-Star Michelin Restaurants - the Schwarzwaldstube and
the Restaurant Bareiss. The Schwarzwaldstube is located in the Hotel
Traube Tonbach run by chef Harald Wolfarth who presents a sophisticated
cuisine in a charmingly elegant rich atmosphere. While, for
seconds, just a few minutes away world class chef Claus-Peter Lump
demonstrates his own special
style
in the Restaurant Bareiss also focusing
on regional ingredients with a clean crisp presentation. Hotel
