Contemporary
elegant design in a beautiful natural setting, the Cliff House Hotel
set on
the cliff
above the small fishing village of Ardmore
on the south Ireland coast, gives the impression of almost being more
a part of the cliff than on it. The dark stone which forms its façade
seems as if chipped and stacked from the earth. From the seaside the
building almost seems to cascade down the slope, the glass windows reflecting
sky and sea. The green eco-design element of grass on the roof adds to

motif is carried inside into the lobby and multiple floor levels, designed
with the
colors to reflect the Waterford
countryside, warm and inviting with a mix of antique and earthy furnishings
of sharp modernity. The Cliff House Hotel is an intimately stylish
boutique 5-star hideaway on the bay of Ardmore, with views of the bay

The
sea coast of Ireland can be a temperamental companion, sparkling sun
reflecting
on the calm
bay waters as you tee off of Ireland’s
most unique golf tee, driving to the floating island green to practice
your swing, or battering the seaward windows with blustery winds and
salt sea spray like an ocean liner in a gale. Just outside the door,
the monastery walk along the cliffs offers a close encounter with the
sea coast, from the ruins of the ancient enclave of St Declan’s
Well, over the grassy tops top of dramatic sea cliffs offers a lovely

Halfway round the point, the haunting hulk of a barge crane which
broke away in stormy
seas and crashed permanently
ashore gives testament to the moods of the ocean where the Celtic Sea

styled designs. The suites have bathrooms which edge onto a private

The
Well Spa at the Cliff House Hotel, which takes its name inspiration
from the
sweet
waters of St Declan’s hermitage is on the lower floor, featuring
an indoor infinity pool, sauna,
steam
room, outdoor deck Jacuzzi looking out over the sea,
fully-equipped gym and a variety of rejuvenative treatments for
every possible care. Even the gym treadmills allow
you to contemplate the ocean while distracted from the daily grind.
Cedar steps lead down to a natural rock pool at the bay shore for
a refreshing
dip in the sea.
The
House Restaurant features Irish cuisine of international class featuring
produce and meats from Irish farms and fresh sea catch,
prepared with Chef Kajuiter's personal flair. When the restaurant is
closed,
the Cliff House Bar and Terrace with floor-to-ceiling windows and
a mix of wood stone and splashes of color in the furniture makes for
a relaxed alternative, or just a spot for to enjoy a drink in full
commune with the sea. The Cliff House Hotel is part of the Chateux & Relais

The little former fishing village of Ardmore is a short stroll down the hill and the Monastery walk leads to the monastery of St Declan with its facsinating tower and ancient abbey of St Declan.
