Modern Luxury in the Diplomatic Quarter
The
Maritim Hotel Berlin is part of the ’new” Berlin revival.
Opened in 2005, the hotel which refers to itself as Classic Superior
Class is a fresh and modern accommodation of warm ambient colors, polished
granite and glossy marble. The glittering lobby of formal angular lines
of bright yellow and black trim with sparkling chandeliers is reminiscent
of Berlin’s golden age of the roaring 1920’s with a completely
contemporary twist. The Maritim Hotel Berlin is located in the diplomatic
quarter, just south of the Tiergarten Park, a few blocks from the Potsdamer
Platz, surrounded by foreign diplomatic missions. and across the street
from the notorious Bendler Block, one of the few remaining buildings
from the Nazi era with its resistance memorial (see Bendler Block Resistance
Museum). The street of the hotel’s address, Stauffenbergstrasse
is named for Von Stauffenberg of the Valkyrie Hitler assassination plot
- remember Tom Cruise in an eyepatch?
Like most of the
hotels in the Maritim group the Maritim Berlin features superior service
with
large rooms of elegant unique design, a classic
meets modern style with rich wooden furnishings and spacious marble bathrooms.
Suites in the tower look out on the metropolis of Germany’s vibrant
capital city. The Presidential at the Maritim Berlin is the largest single
hotel suite in Berlin featuring 2 private terraces and its own sauna
spa. It is likely that a president or two might actually stay, or at
least an ambassador. Guests who stay in the superior category rooms have
access to the private “Berliner Salon” lounge, with breakfast,
snacks and beverage served throughout the day.
Restaurants at the Maritim feature “front cooking” where the craftsmanship of the gourmet kitchen is part of the dining experience. The Grand Restaurant M specializes in Berlin original and traditional dishes as well as an international menu with terrace seating. The Champagne breakfast buffet is served in the Restaurant Maritim. The stylish “Le Bar” lounge assembles Berlin’s top bartenders and live piano music for a cozy nightspot atmosphere.
The
large hotel has 505 rooms, including 66 suites, huge ballrooms for
business conferences and events, underground parking for almost 500
cars
and rooms certified for allergy sufferers. The comprehensive Elysium
Wellness Spa is spread over two floors, including a swimming pool, sauna,
steam bath, solarium, fitness center, with cosmetic and massage studios.
The hotel offers special theme packages with stay and included activities,
and offers green fee discounts for two nearby golf courses. The
Tiergarten with its summer beer gardens is 200 yards away. The Maritim
Berlin is within blocks of the Potsdamer Platz with its entertainment
center

Festival). The New National Gallerie and Philharmonie Hall are around
