Grand Tour La Belle Époque 5-Star Hotel
In the middle of
the 19th Century as Switzerland was coming to the world’s
attention as a travel destination, an enterprising young entrepreneur
Eduard Ruchti, at the ripe age of 22 bought a lodging house with a location
in the heart of Interlaken which had been the home of a physician, and
after operating it as the Pension Victoria for eight years, hired local
architects Friedrich Studer and Horace Edouard Davinet to completely
redesign the property, opening the Hotel Victoria in 1865. Then, 30 years
later in 1895, he acquired the adjacent Hotel Jungfrau and joined them
together, liking the two hotels by a common entrance under a distinctive
glass dome and an impressive façade. The new grand hotel attracted
the exclusive clientele of traveling industrial magnates, writers and
royalty then making Interlaken a world famous resort stop on the Switzerland
Grand Tour. In 2015, the Hotel Victoria Jungfrau is celebrating its 150th
Anniversary.

which has been entertaining exclusive guests for a century and a
half.
The Hotel Victoria-Jungfrau
was featured in the television dating show “The
Bachelor” as an iconic romantic location and is well situated
